Rahul Agarwal
17 years building and scaling infrastructure across Yahoo, Visa, Flipkart, and Truecaller — from petabyte Hadoop clusters to continent-spanning cloud migrations. Now channeling all of it into Cloptima.AI.
cloptima.ai Founder
A governed AI gateway and FinOps platform for engineering and platform teams. Cloptima routes LLM traffic through an OpenAI-compatible gateway with virtual keys, approved models, budgets, and guardrails — giving teams real-time spend controls, team-level attribution, and finance-ready reporting before a model call ever blows the budget. The same governance engine deploys as a private edge gateway inside a customer's own VPC, with intelligent model routing and shadow AI discovery to catch unsanctioned usage.
Cloud cost intelligence rounds out the platform — unified AWS, GCP, and Azure dashboards, Kubernetes rightsizing, and automated PR cost-impact comments on GitHub. It's delivered where teams already work: an MCP server for AI agents, a CLI for terminals and CI/CD pipelines, and native Slack and Jira integrations.
Truecaller
Led the Cloud & Data Platform infrastructure team — built the modern Truecaller app infrastructure on GCP. Migrated the entire data infrastructure (hundreds of TB) from on-premise in Sweden to Google Cloud in Mumbai — continent to continent, over the wire. Built and managed the Truecaller Pay architecture, transitioning from monolithic to containerized micro-services and achieving an 80% reduction in infrastructure costs. The data platform ingesting billions of events on Kafka, processing on Hadoop, and reporting on BigQuery — all built by our team.
Flipkart
Led a talented team to scale data infrastructure to an 800-node Hadoop cluster managing petabytes of data — all on an internal private cloud built in-house by Tech@Flipkart. Tackled massive data volumes, reliability challenges, and optimized performance for analytics, fraud detection, and month-end-closure reporting across diverging and often competing internal teams.
Visa
Enhanced the data analytics platform, working on Big Data systems handling billions of daily event ingestions. This was the era when enterprises adopted the Hadoop ecosystem in a big way.
Yahoo
Managed high-performance systems and contributed to Yahoo's vast, complex infrastructure. Worked on Yahoo! HotJobs and Yahoo! Travel properties — deep dives into reliability, scale, and operational excellence.
